The secret place

Daniel 2 – There is a God is heaven who reveals secrets. There is a time for public prayer, community with other people and coming together. But the greatest times, the life changing times in our lives and hearts usually happen in the dark. In the secret places of our heart when it is just you and God. Mark 1:35 tells us that Jesus rose early in the morning before daylight and went to a solitary place and prayed. In Daniel 2 when Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah prayed about the king’s dream (and the command to kill all the wise men!), the secret of the dream was revealed to Daniel in a night vision. If you need a miracle, the solution to a difficult problem, or to escape the anger of a king, pray. Seek God in the secret place. We live today with so much noise and wonder why we cannot seem to find any real solutions. We need to find our God in that solitary secret place, both naturally (where we pray) and in the secret place of our heart. If you don’t think you can find a place or the time, then rearrange your life. Jesus left to pray early in the morning when it was dark. Daniel received his revelation during the night. This doesn’t have to be the case, but it sure is quiet at this time!
Sometimes we just need to “fast” all the noise and get quiet. God is waiting for us to decide how important he is. We want and need solutions. Are we willing to seek God in the dark, at the most inconvenient time? God is wise and knows our hearts. And he will meet you in that secret place. The question is not if he will deliver or reveal his mysteries – for he is constant and unchanging. The question is will we meet him?
I challenge you, pray at least one time a day in the secret place.
